Dentistry

For anxious patients, the option of dental treatment with intravenous sedation or even general anesthesia is possible.

Implants

Cleft lip and palate surgery

A cleft lip, jaw or palate is a congenital malformation. Dr Bart van de Ven has operated on hundreds of these patients and recently was principal author of the book entitled; Cleft Lip Surgery, A Practical Guide. Agave works with open teams meaning the schisis operations take place in Marbella, but you can choose to visit your local paediatrician, orthodontist, ENT specialist, speech therapist and dentist.

Traumatology

From a small facial concussion to a major facial fracture due to car accidents or acts of violence, everyone is exposed to the risks of being injured. The surgeons at Agave Clinic are extremely experienced in this field and provide primary and secondary treatment, using the latest techniques to avoid scars and complications, trying to give you back your way of life.

Orthognatic surgery (jaw repositioning)

Orthognatic surgery is the science and art of diagnostics, planning and surgical correction of facial deformities caused by malpositioning or abnormal development of the jaws. Agave Clinic is extremely experienced in the treatment of facial deformities and performs orthognathic surgery with the most reliable techniques and equipment.

The Agave Team

The team at Agave is headed by surgeons Dr Bart Van de Ven and Dr Daniel Simon.

Dr Bart Van de Ven

Dr Van de Ven studied Medicine and Dentistry in Utrecht and trained in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Utrecht Academic Hospital for 2 years and then in General Surgery for 3 years.
He spent 8 months working in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Maastricht Academic Hospital before moving to the academic Hospital in Aachen, Germany. There he spent almost 2 years finishing his specialisation in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
He now works as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and he leads the European Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation which travels to operate on children in Kenya and Vietnam twice a year.

Dr Daniel Simon

Dr Simon obtained his Master in Dentistry from the University of Gent, Belgium. He started his training in Oral Surgery in San Paulo in January 2001.
He began specialising in Oral Surgery and Facial Anatomic Surgery and in 2002 he took up a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology at Campinas County Hospital in San Paulo. He furthered his career by moving to Belgium in 2005 undertaking a fellowship in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Eewfeest Clinic, Antwerp.
He further trained in cleft lip and palatal surgery as part of the European Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation team in Vietnam and Kenya.

Support and assistance

Agave Clinic offers a transfer service to and from the airport for overseas clients. They can also assist in booking flights and finding a place to stay.
The clinic is truly international as staff are fully conversant in English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese. For all other languages interpreters can be provided.
Any after care service necessary is provided by an experienced support team. This team is permanently at the patient’s disposal. Contact with the specialist during office hours can be made by telephoning direct line. After hours this contact is available through the emergency services of the nearby USP private hospital.
